The neck is often one of the first areas to show the signs of aging. Over time, wrinkles, sagging skin and folds develop in the neck and color changes in the skin may occur. These changes can make you appear older than you actually are and some individuals go to great lengths to hide their necks behind turtlenecks and scarves. For a more permanent solution, however, the neck lift can help. Located in Carmel and Greenwood, Hamilton Facial Plastic Surgery, led by double board-certified facial plastic surgeon Mark M. Hamilton, M.D., F.A.C.S., offers neck lifts for men and women who live in and around Indianapolis, Indiana.
What is a Neck Lift?
The neck lift, or platysmaplasty, is a surgical procedure which effectively rejuvenates the neck by tightening and re-suspending the muscles of the neck. This helps to decrease the appearance of “bands” in the neck, as well as sagging skin beneath the jawline for a firmer, more defined jawline and neck.
Some of the more common concerns addressed with a neck lift include the following:
- Excess fat.
- Excess or sagging skin.
- Neck folds.
- Neck bands.
- Turkey wattle appearance.
How Much Does a Neck Lift Cost in Indianapolis, Indiana?
Hamilton Facial Plastic Surgery seeks to make facial surgery procedures available and affordable for everyone. To accomplish this, we accept cash, major credit cards and personal checks for a neck lift.
The Neck Lift Procedure
Dr. Hamilton may perform the neck lift surgery at the Franciscan Surgery Center (Indianapolis), Community South Surgery Center (Indianapolis) or Meridian Plastic Surgery Center (Carmel, IN). The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis with patients receiving either twilight anesthesia or local anesthesia. Incisions may be located behind the ears, underneath the chin or both. Working through the incisions, the underlying neck muscles will be tightened and realigned, excess skin and fat will be removed, the remaining skin will be lifted, and the incisions will then be closed.
Neck Lift Aftercare
Patients can expect some degree of swelling and bruising after a neck lift. Pain medication will be prescribed to help ease any discomfort that occurs. If a dressing is applied, it is removed within a day or two while absorbable sutures are removed or trimmed at the one-week point. Patients usually feel comfortable being seen publicly within the first week and are able to return to all social activities and work shortly afterward.
