Dysport® in Indianapolis, Indiana

Crow’s feet, forehead creases and frown lines are all the result of facial muscle movements. In most people, these wrinkles appear on the forehead, around the eyes, as well as between the eyebrows. These are all early signs of aging, but the good news is that Dysport®, a non-surgical, FDA-approved treatment, can help minimize them. Located in Carmel and Greenwood, Hamilton Facial Plastic Surgery, led by double board-certified facial plastic surgeon Mark M. Hamilton, M.D., F.A.C.S., offers Dysport® to men and women who live in and around Indianapolis, Indiana.

What Is Dysport®?

Similar to Botox®, Dysport® is a relatively new treatment that can temporarily provide a dramatic improvement in the appearance of wrinkles.

Alone, Dysport® is capable of significantly reducing fine lines and wrinkles on the upper one-third of the face. Coupled with a dermal filler, patients can achieve a refreshed and natural rejuvenation. During treatment, Dysport® is injected into facial muscles in order to affect their activity. In a sense, the treatment temporarily relaxes target muscles from contraction. This gives the resulting fine lines a softer and smoother appearance.

Dysport® vs. Botox®

Although the terms, Dysport® and Botox®, are often used interchangeably, there are a few notable differences between the two. Dysport® generally begins working more quickly than Botox®. From our observation, most people notice some sort of effect in less than one day following treatment. Botox® typically takes five to seven days to begin taking effect.

Additionally, dosages and pricing differ between Dysport® and Botox®. While it might take one unit dosage of Botox® to treat a patient, it would likely take two to three times that unit dosage of Dysport® to achieve the same effect. However, in the long run, Dysport® and Botox® are quite similar in value and price.

Lastly, it has been found that Dysport® has a tendency to spread more than Botox®. This means that it’s technically possible that the solution could radiate out and affect more than the target area. This is kept in mind while we administer the treatment.

Why Choose Dysport®?

Countless people choose Dysport® for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons people opt for Dysport® treatment is because it yields fantastic results. It is one of the best ways to gain back a refreshed and youthful appearance non-invasively. The treatment is effective for various wrinkle types, including lip and neck wrinkles, crow’s feet, frown lines, forehead wrinkles and more. The procedure is incredibly simple and quick and there is no down-time involved. Results are generally noticed within a day after treatment and for most, there are little to no side effects.

Dysport® is used by doctors and our advanced injectors all around the world and it has quite a safe and successful track record. Dysport® initially appeared in 1991 as a treatment for muscle spasms and disorders and it is now accepted and regularly used for many conditions in over 75 countries in the world.

The Dysport® Procedure

Receiving Dysport® treatment begins with an initial consultation. If it is determined that a patient would benefit from a Dysport® treatment, they are essentially ready to begin treatment. Dr. Hamilton or our Advanced Injectors will analyze the patient’s face to determine the effective areas and amount of product needed to achieve the desired results. The product is drawn up into a syringe and injected with a very small needle. The procedure itself takes anywhere from five to 15 minutes depending on the number of areas that are injected. Minimal discomfort is generally felt during the procedure. Topical anesthetic and ice can be utilized to ensure comfort.

It isn’t often that doctors notice problems or complications after Dysport® treatments. In occasional cases, temporary bruising may appear, but it usually subsides in two to three days. Likewise, some people might notice discomfort on and around the site of injection(s), headache and inflammation. If pain is felt, it is usually minor, and it does not last for a long period of time.

Serious complications are very rare in nature when it comes to Dysport®. In a very small number of cases, allergic reactions, nerve damage, and drooping eyelids can result from a Dysport® injection.

Are You A Candidate?

If you’re tired of wrinkles caused by aging around your eyes, brow, forehead, and nose, then Dysport® is right for you. It is recommended that those who are seeking out treatment should also be in good health. It is important that you also acknowledge and understand the limitations and possible risk factors of Dysport®. If you have an allergy to abobotulinumtoxin, it is not recommended that you receive treatment.

What Can I Expect After The Dysport® Procedure?

Although the treatment is quick and simple, it will likely take several days before results are fully noticed. Keep in mind that initial results can be noticed within 24 hours. A small amount of discomfort might be felt directly after the procedure, but it should subside within a short amount of time.

How Soon Can I Return To Work After Dysport®?

Because there is no recovery time generally needed for this treatment, you can return to work immediately after the procedure. It is recommended you wait 24 hours after injection before exercising after your Dysport® treatment.
