Question:
I am having otoplasty to pin back my ears. I understand that I will have a head bandage after the otoplasty surgery. How long do I have to keep the bandage on? When can I return to my normal exercise routine?

Answer:
Dr. Hamilton does apply a dressing that is worn for the first 24 hours after otoplasty surgery. The next morning this is removed and the all of the post-operative care is reviewed. We ask patients to wear a head band of their choice over the ears as much as possible for the next two weeks – this helps support the new position of the ears. Like most cosmetic procedures, Dr. Hamilton recommends that patients avoid strenuous activities for two weeks and heavy lifting for three weeks.
