What is a Submentoplasty?
Submentoplasty is a cosmetic surgical procedure that targets the area beneath the chin to create a more defined, contoured neck and jawline. It involves a small incision under the chin, removing excess fat (but not skin) and tightening the underlying neck muscles. It also may involve subplatysmal work such as subplatysmal fat removal, partial digastric removal, and submandibular gland contouring or removal. Unlike a full neck lift, submentoplasty is a less invasive procedure that focuses specifically on improving the appearance of a double chin or mild skin laxity in the submental (under-chin) area. The procedure is ideal for patients with good skin elasticity who want to address early signs of aging or inherited fullness beneath the chin.
