Plastic surgeons specializing in facial surgery have long struggled to find a truly safe and effective treatment for facial scarring due to acne. Finding a treatment that was minimally invasive and produced very limited recovery time has been even more challenging.
After being on the market for more than a decade, Bellafill has shown itself to be a safe and effective minimally invasive treatment that can be administered in-office with very little recovery time. (more…)

Bellafill, a long-term filler made by Suneva Medical, is now the only filler available in the U.S. market with FDA approval to treat acne scars. Bellafill (previously named Artefill) already is the only filler in the U.S. approved to provide long term, (greater than five years) correction of facial folds.
Dr. Hamilton is an expert with Bellafill. He has been using it since its introduction into the U.S. market nearly a decade ago and has lectured on the product. He is also a past member of the product’s national medical advisory board.
Extensive studies were done to receive FDA approval. Study patients […]
Your mom used to warn you that potato chips were causing that giant pimple on your nose. Now your coworker swears a regular juice cleanse helps fight wrinkles.
While everyone is becoming more health-conscious these days, plenty of stubborn myths remain to confuse issues. You may have heard a few of the following:
You Can Get the Results of an Injection With a Topical Product
Most would choose a topical cream over an injection. While a topical form of Botox is undergoing clinical trials, and there are topical forms of hyaluronic acid available, these treatments aren’t nearly as effective.
With a dermal filler, the […]
The major innovation for aesthetic procedures in recent years is minimally invasive or non-invasive treatments with little or no downtime. The subsiding of bruises and swelling are what necessitates downtime, so anything that can be done to minimize inflammation and bleeding will reduce the amount of time patients need to spend recuperating.
For those considering a facial injection procedure, surgery, or other facial treatment, Dr. Hamilton has always recommended a few things to avoid as they may increase bruising or bleeding at the surgery or injection sites and impede recovery. (more…)

Artefill was approved by the FDA several years ago as the first long lasting (up to 5 years, possibly permanent) correction of the nasolabial folds. Over the years, Dr. Hamilton has found this to be a great option for those patients looking for a more long term correction than our hyaluronic acid fillers (Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero) provide. Now Artefill has a new name: Bellafill. The company (Suneva Medical) rebranded this product to more realistically represent its value.
What has not changed is the filler. Made from polymethylmethacrylate microspheres(20%) and collagen(80%), this product stimulates your own body to create collagen to add […]
The opportunities for in office treatments has expanded exponentially in the last 10-15 years.
Most are familiar with Botox as well as collagen fillers of the past. Newer fillers offer the opportunity for
injections that are longer lasting (up to 1-2 years) and no longer require skin testing.
Hyaluronic acid is the component of most commonly used fillers today. While these are long acting(up to one year), well tolerated, and reversible, they are not permanent. (more…)

We have now being using Belotero for several weeks and are seeing good results. Belotero is very similar to other hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane and Perlane. Belotero claims to have a unique advantage due to its patented cross-linking technology used in its formulation. This is reported to help create a thinner product which fills more uniformly and allows it to be used more superficially.
Our initial use of the product has shown it to be very smooth in filling. I have noticed that it can be used superficially with a natural result and no skin discoloration or Tyndall […]
Question:
What is the difference between Botox and injectable fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm? What is the best option for minimizing lines in my forehead and neck?
Answer:
Botox is a muscle relaxant. In general it works best on the upper half of the face and typically last for 3-4 months. Botox is a great option for softening lines in the forehead. Injectable fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm work by “filling in” lines and wrinkles. It in general does better on the lower half of the face and typically last 9-12 months. The neck area is generally not ideal for either, […]
Question:
I would like to get injectable fillers in my face. I would like to plump up both my lips and my nasolabial folds which have gotten quite pronounced. I would like hyaluronic acid because the reports that I read indicate it is longer lasting than collagen. Is hyaluronic acid appropriate for both areas?
Answer:
Hyaluronic acids are the number one filler right now as well as Dr. Hamilton’s favorite for many reasons. One is that the are so versatile- they are great for both enhancement of the lips as well as softening the nasolabial folds. In addition, the hyaluronic acids […]
The great thing about today’s injectables is the minimal downtime. Dr. Hamilton does recommend that patients apply ice to the treated areas for the first day/evening, but make-up can be applied shortly afterwards. For those who do bruise, we can assist with make-up to help camouflage the areas. With today’s injectable fillers, most patients are back to regular activities the next day with the benefit of their new look!
