What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural component of the skin, similar to collagen or elastin. Hyaluronic acid attracts water to the skin, resulting in a plumper appearance and a reduction in the visibility of wrinkles, fine lines, and folds. Collagen and elastin are the natural materials in skin that help to support tissues and provide a youthful appearance.

Men and women can visit Hamilton Facial Plastic Surgery to have dermal fillers improve the following folds and wrinkles:

  • Cheek Enhancement
  • Jawline Enhancement
  • Lip Enhancement
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Marionette lines
  • Corner lines
  •  Smile lines (Nasolabial folds)

Discussing Fillers

Hamilton Facial Plastic Surgery offers the following dermal fillers:

  • Juvederm® Ultra XC and Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC

These fillers are designed to soften wrinkles and creases around the mouth, nose, and cheeks. Results typically last between nine and 12 months. Additionally, Juvederm Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC are now FDA-approved for lip augmentation.

  • Voluma®

Voluma® also uses Vycross™ technology. Vycross™ is a gel-like substance that can quickly permeate the skin to fill crevices and contours. Within a short period, this will result in firmer, more elastic skin. Voluma is approved to treat skin volume issues in the cheek and mid-face regions

  • Radiesse

is specifically formulated to treat moderate to severe creases and wrinkles in the skin by increasing elasticity, fullness, and volume in the outer layer, while also supporting it from within. The injectable delivers an underlying microspheric structure to the deeper layers beneath the skin’s surface, lifting and supporting the outer layer. The structure also promotes collagen production, which helps build elasticity, suppleness, and volume. The collagen produced fills in the microspheric lattice, making the texture of your skin smoother and giving it a younger appearance.

  • Restylane®

Restylane®: Restylane® restores the skin’s supply of HA, thereby promoting optimal hydration in the skin’s deepest layers. This increased hydration plumps up your skin, improving its volume and reducing the appearance of the most common signs of aging.

  • Restylane® Lyft

Restylane® Lyft has been approved by the FDA to treat volume loss in the cheeks and nasolabial folds at the corners of the mouth. Unlike many other fillers that use pre-made doses, our advanced injector can calibrate every injection to meet the unique needs of each patient. Patients will immediately begin to notice results, with fuller skin and fewer wrinkles. In addition to volume expansion, this product helps increase skin elasticity, creating a more youthful appearance. Restylane® Lyft also increases skin hydration around every injection site to augment the initial effects.

  • Restylane Refyne and Defyne

These fillers are used to correct mild facial folds and wrinkles. It can also be injected for lip augmentation in patients over 21, as well as for the treatment of vertical lip lines and fine lines in the lower face. This product is also ideal for those who want to promote the natural hydration process with minimal signs of swelling through a minimally invasive injection.

  • RHA® Fillers

RHA® fillers are made with resilient hyaluronic acid (RHA), which is designed to respond and adapt to your natural facial movements. RHA® fillers are primarily designed for application around the midface, nose, and mouth. These fillers may be effective for restoring lost volume by filling the nasolabial folds, marionette line, and laugh lines.

  • Sculptra

This filler is designed for patients experiencing loss of skin volume and elasticity due to low collagen levels. When compared to many other fillers, the primary benefit of Sculptra is its longevity of results. Patients who opt for alternative fillers may require additional maintenance injections as early as six months. Those who receive Sculptra injections, however, can enjoy their youthful new appearance for two years or longer.

What Are the Benefits of Dermal Fillers?

Dermal filler injections are designed to restore structure, smooth, and plump facial wrinkles and folds, providing results that last from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the filler. We can also use dermal fillers to enhance a patient’s facial appearance by injecting them into acne scars or adding volume to the lips or cheeks. Treatments can be performed at either of our Hamilton Facial Plastic Surgery offices in Carmel or Greenwood, IN, with minimal downtime. In many cases, dermal fillers are the first cosmetic procedure requested by a patient wanting to reduce the early signs of aging on their face.

Who Are the Best Candidates For Dermal Fillers?

The best candidates for dermal fillers are patients above the age of 21 who are experiencing age-related volume loss, have fine lines and wrinkles, and are seeking to restore firmness to their skin texture.

Soft tissue augmentation, specifically the placement of dermal filler, is an elective procedure that may not be suitable for all patients seeking this treatment. It is essential that we consider and address the potential complications that may arise from treating patients with pre-existing conditions, which can occur at any stage.

To find out which dermal filler treatment is most appropriate for you, please schedule a consultation at either Hamilton Facial Plastic Surgery location in Carmel, IN, or Greenwood, IN. One of our advanced injectors will meet with you to review your medical history and evaluate the condition of your skin. After a thorough evaluation, they will be able to make a recommendation for which dermal filler or combination of dermal fillers will best address your skin concerns. Our advanced injectors have extensive experience with facial anatomy and can offer expert advice on where to inject dermal fillers for optimal results. You will receive a customized dermal filler treatment plan, which you are welcome to begin that day itself or schedule at a later time.

What to Expect on the Day of Dermal Fillers Treatment

For a typical filler appointment, please allow for 30 minutes of numbing before injecting. Prior to beginning the dermal filler treatment, the patient’s skin tissue is sanitized to eliminate pathogens. In some cases, our advanced injectors will smooth the skin tissue near the injection site with gentle fingertip strokes to assist in dispersing the dermal filler. All fillers contain a small amount of lidocaine, which helps numb the skin and underlying tissues, thereby preventing pain during and after treatment.

As soon as the procedure is completed, patients are free to resume their normal activities at home or work, and most experience minimal discomfort. Patients should refrain from any strenuous activity or intense sunlight for 24 hours. If a patient experiences any problems after returning home, they should contact our office immediately for assistance.

Dermal Fillers
Recovery

After undergoing one or more injections of dermal fillers, patients can return to normal activities but should avoid direct sunlight, hot temperatures, and strenuous exercise. Most patients notice an immediate improvement in their appearance, as tiny lines and deep folds around the mouth and near the nose are reduced, with full results at the two-week mark. Patients should avoid rubbing the injection site for 24 hours to give their facial skin time to adjust and heal.

How Much Do Dermal Fillers Cost in Indianapolis, IN?

procedure-cost

The cost of dermal fillers in Indianapolis will be based on the type of dermal filler(s) selected, the number of sessions necessary to deliver optimal results, and facility fees. These costs will also vary from patient to patient. Cosmetic treatments, such as dermal fillers, are not considered medically necessary, so your insurance is unlikely to cover the cost of the procedure. Please call our Carmel or Greenwood office today if you have questions regarding the price of your dermal filler treatment.
