Dr. Hamilton was recently featured on WishTV8 in a segment on Artefill. The news story was an update on a wrinkle filler called Artefill which the station first reported on a year ago. At that time many doctors, were skeptical of the product and were not recommending it. Today, however, Artefill is being seen as the latest and greatest injectable filler.

In the segment, Dr. Hamilton cited the latest results of a five year study which showed very promising results. Artefill is comprised of cow collagen and tiny plastic microspheres which, when injected beneath the skin, plump wrinkles. In newer versions of the product, the microspheres are smoother and more uniform and less likely to cause a reaction. Older versions were more irregular and even contained tiny particles.

Dr. Hamilton demonstrated the difference between the two: "This is the version used in the U.S. and you'll see that they're much more uniform in shape and [have] a lack of particles."

Artefill is ideal for patients not yet ready to undergo surgery. Treatment takes just a few minutes to complete and Dr. Hamilton believes that it is a safe product. His patients have been very happy with their results and have not experienced any problems.

"And it's really showing a good track record," he said, "still a good safety profile. When you compare it to the temporary fillers, I think it really holds up very well. And the product is still there five years later which confirms what we expected, that it's a long-term if not permanent change." While Artefill is manufactured by a number of companies around the world, Dr. Hamilton believes that the American product is the best.
