Brow Lift in Indianapolis, IN1. How long will a brow lift last?

A brow lift is a plastic surgery designed to lift the brows to a more aesthetic position, soften forehead and frown lines, and rejuvenate the eyes and upper third of the face. While patients will appreciate the benefits of this procedure for the rest of their life, with aging the brows may return to their original position within 5-10 years. How long this takes depends greatly on genetics, age the procedure was done, and how one takes care of their selves after the procedure.

2. Where will my incisions be?

This can help you to understand what techniques your surgeon will be using; how invasive the procedure will be and how visible the incisions will be after the procedure. Surgeons skilled in endoscopic techniques can make small incisions behind the hairline that will not be visible after the procedure. Multiple well documented studies have confirmed the efficacy of the endoscopic procedure versus more open approaches.

3. How long is the recovery?

Fortunately, with endoscopic techniques, the recovery is fairly limited. Patients may apply facial makeup and brush and style their hair within 48 hours after surgery. Metal clips are removed from behind the hairline by one week. Patients should be able to return to most social activities shortly after this. Within two to three weeks, patients can resume all activities, including strenuous exercise and heavy lifting. The one activity that is significantly delayed is use of hair color- this should not be done for one month.

4. Can I combine a brow lift with other procedures?

Absolutely. A brow lift is often combined with a blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) as part of rejuvenation of the eyelid area. In addition, many patients will combine a lower facelift which rejuvenates the lower face and neck with a brow lift to rejuvenate the upper face.

5. Is this a procedure you perform on a regular basis?

Most plastic surgeons do not regularly perform brow lifts- if this is a procedure your surgeon is not doing at least once a month, they are not going to be as proficient as a surgeon who does it on a regular basis.
