SkinPen® in Indianapolis, Indiana

Microneedling is a mildly invasive treatment designed to improve the look of loose skin, fine lines, deep creases, hyperpigmentation and scarring. Using a microneedling technique, Microneedling naturally promotes an increase in collagen and elastin production. The skin essentially heals itself, revealing a youthful, refreshed appearance. Located in Carmel and Greenwood, Hamilton Facial Plastic Surgery, led by double board-certified facial plastic surgeon Mark M. Hamilton, M.D., F.A.C.S., offers the Microneedling for men and women who live in and around Indianapolis, Indiana.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling refers to the use of small needles to puncture the skin with the intent to stimulate wound healing. The theory behind microneedling has been around for decades. Over the years, microneedling has become safer and increasingly efficient for patients of all types. Primarily, microneedling is used to attain smooth, healthy-looking skin.

How Much Does a Microneedling Treatment Cost in Indianapolis, Indiana?

While patients often see visible results following the very first session, a series of four to six treatments is recommended, depending on your aesthetic goals. We accept cash, checks, and major credit cards.

Benefits of a Microneedling Treatment

  • Skin tightening and rejuvenation.
  • Eliminates stretch marks.
  • Decreases large pores.
  • Improves the appearance of keloid, acne and surgical scars.
  • Benefits the signs of alopecia.

The Microneedling Treatment

To begin the microneedling treatment, the skin will be cleaned and a topical anesthetic will be applied for 15 to 20 minutes. Next, the aesthetician will gently place the small applicator on the skin in the predetermined target area. Through a fast ‘stamping’ motion, the applicator will administer small punctures to the skin. The aesthetician will slowly move the handpiece along the intended areas. A microneedling treatment will normally take only a few minutes to complete.

Microneedling Recovery

Detailed homecare instructions will be provided at the appointment. A little down-time is required after a microneedling treatment. Mild redness and a tight feeling can be expected for the first one to three days after treatment. Patients are free to return to work, school and all normal activities that same afternoon. Patients should not wear makeup for the first 12 hours after a microneedling treatment. After two to three days, your normal skin care regimen can be resumed. Prolonged sun exposure should be avoided for the first 10 days.

Who is a Good Candidate for a Microneedling Treatment?

Anyone frustrated with scarring, large pores or the early signs of aging may make an excellent candidate for a microneedling treatment. Because the procedure is mildly invasive and causes no significant damage to the skin, the treatment is safe for most patients. However, those with an active skin infection or who are pregnant may be asked to postpone their treatment. At the consultation appointment, our licensed aesthetician will review each patient’s unique situation and determine if a microneedling treatment is the right fit.

Is a Microneedling treatment painful?

Depending on the area being treated, a microneedling procedure may cause mild pain or pinch. A topical anesthetic is normally applied 15 to 20 minutes before the procedure to reduce any discomfort.

Will I need more than one Microneedling treatment?

Yes, most areas will require between four and six microneedling treatments, all spaced about three weeks apart.
