The Juvederm® Ultra XC / Ultra Plus XC Procedure

The Juvederm® Ultra XC / Ultra Plus XC procedure is not complex but does require a consultation with a cosmetic surgeon or nurse who first conducts a thorough evaluation and discussion of the patient’s concerns and goals. This time includes reviewing a patient’s medical history and ruling out any contraindications to injectable fillers. The consultation is the best time to ask questions about dermal fillers, including how long the results will last or potential complications.

As soon as the procedure is over, patients are free to continue with their normal activities at home or work, and most patients feel minimal discomfort. Patients should restrain from any strenuous activity or intense sunlight for 24 hours. Juvederm® Ultra XC / Ultra Plus XC have been extensively studied in patients between the ages of 35 and 65 and are suitable for all adult patients.

Juvederm® Ultra XC / Ultra Plus XC are used in patients with:

  • Healthy skin without numerous keloid or hypertrophic scars.
  • Normal skin tone without pigmentation disorders.
  • No immunodeficiency disorders.

Patients are advised not to use Juvederm® Ultra XC / Ultra Plus XC when taking medications, such as aspirin that thin the blood. After a dermal filler procedure, patients must avoid sunlight, extreme heat or strenuous exercise for 24 hours to avoid complications.

The skin near the Juvederm® Ultra XC / Ultra Plus XC injection site is often sensitive for a few days and additional rejuvenation treatments with chemical peels or lasers are not advised for several weeks.

How Long Will The Results Last from Juvederm® Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC?

The result of an injection with Juvederm® Ultra XC / Ultra Plus XC varies for each patient, but most patients enjoy a reduction of folds and wrinkles for nine to 12 months. There are patients who have experienced improvements more than one year and it is possible to undergo additional injections of this dermal filler with approval from Dr. Hamilton.

What Can A Patient Expect After The Juvederm® Ultra XC And Ultra Plus XC Procedure?

After undergoing one or more injections of Juvederm® Ultra XC / Ultra Plus XC, a patient can return to normal activities but should avoid direct sunlight, hot temperatures and strenuous exercise. Most patients notice an immediate improvement to their face because tiny lines and deep folds around the mouth and near the nose are reduced. Patients should avoid rubbing the injection site for 24 hours to give their facial skin time to adjust and heal.

How Soon Can A Patient Return To Work After Juvederm® Ultra XC And Ultra Plus XC?

Unless a patient’s job requires working in hot temperatures, direct sunlight or engaging in strenuous movement, it is acceptable to return to work the same or next day. Avoid rubbing lotions on the treated areas of the facial skin or lips for at least 24 hours to avoid inflammation.
